EPDM Membrane

EPDM membrane is a synthetic waterproofing membrane made from ethylene-propylene-diene rubber, which is used to protect structures against water and moisture penetration. In the wellness sector, it is mainly used for insulating cooling tubs, ponds, pergola roof structures or as a protective layer beneath technical components. The material is extremely resistant to UV radiation, temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress. EPDM retains its elasticity even after decades of use, which minimises the risk of cracks or leaks. Unlike cheap PVC membranes, there is no rapid degradation or loss of elasticity. It is a standard technology used in the construction industry and professional waterproofing applications.

Advantages of EPDM membranes

  • Long-term protection against water ingress: The membrane forms a reliable barrier that protects the structure from moisture and damage.
  • Exceptional durability and UV resistance: EPDM can last for 30–50 years without any significant deterioration in its properties.
  • High elasticity and crack resistance: The material adapts to the movement of the structure without compromising its seal.
  • Minimal maintenance requirements: Once correctly installed, it requires virtually no maintenance throughout its entire service life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most commonly used as a waterproofing layer for cooling ponds or small lakes, or as a protective layer for structures.

Yes. EPDM has a significantly longer service life, greater resistance to UV radiation and better elasticity.

Yes. It is inert and does not release harmful substances into the water when used correctly.

Typically 30 to 50 years, making it one of the most durable waterproofing solutions.

Yes. Minor damage can be repaired using special repair tapes or adhesives.

Professional installation is required to ensure complete watertightness.

Yes. It is designed specifically for outdoor use, including exposure to extreme temperatures and UV radiation.
