A Finnish sauna is a dry sauna: 80 to 100 °C, humidity under 20 % and a short burst of steam from water poured over hot stones. The range covers wooden saunas for 2 to 8 people — for the garden and for indoors, for a house, a cabin or guest accommodation — with a wood-burning or electric stove, from €3,329. Delivery is included, and on models that arrive as a finished unit so are installation and commissioning.

What a Finnish sauna is

A Finnish sauna works with dry, hot air. The sauna stove heats the stones, they radiate heat through the whole cabin, and pouring water over them creates a short wave of steam — löyly. The temperature stays between 80 and 100 °C at humidity under 20 %; it is that low humidity which makes such heat bearable.

A home sauna and a sauna for commercial use

The models in this category are free-standing structures with their own roof and shell, so they are not tied to a single use. They serve equally well as a home sauna at a family house, in a cabin let to guests, in a guesthouse, in accommodation facilities and in a wellness operation open to the public. Capacity is 2 to 8 people depending on the model and layout: the smallest cabins for two, larger ones with an entrance hall, a covered terrace or a shower zone. Alongside the garden models the range also includes indoor saunas for installation in an existing room in a house or a flat. The smallest model, Nordic Pod, has a 120×210 cm footprint; the largest, Aurora Grand, 300×700 cm.

Types of construction

The Finnish saunas in the range differ in the shape of the structure — that decides how much space the sauna takes and what fits into it besides the cabin.

Type What defines it Capacity Price from
Barrel cylindrical shape, smallest footprint, fast warm-up 4–6 people €4,825
Cube straight walls, fully usable interior 2–8 people €3,329
Igloo arched structure with an entrance hall 4–8 people €6,577
Modular cabin with a shower zone in one unit 6 people €7,729
Cabin sauna with an entrance hall or a covered terrace 6–8 people €7,469
Panoramic glazed front wall 6–8 people €7,819

Wooden sauna: spruce or thermowood

A wooden sauna in spruce comes at the base price and has a light, natural shade. Thermowood is heat-treated timber that holds its dimensions better under sharp swings of temperature and humidity, and has a darker, warmer tone — with year-round use that is a difference you see after some years.

Benches and interior cladding use lime, aspen or abachi — timbers with low thermal conductivity that do not burn to the touch at 90 °C.

Stove: wood-burning or electric

An electric stove at 8 or 9 kW is run by thermostat and timer, so the sauna is hot at the time you set — it does need a 400 V supply. A wood-burning stove up to 22 kW needs no power supply and gives stronger löyly, but it has to be stoked and it needs a chimney. Both are available on almost every garden model — you pick them in the configuration, not by choosing a different product. Indoor saunas are always heated electrically.

Construction and insulation

Wall thickness is 42 to 200 mm depending on the model; roof and floor carry 100 mm of mineral wool. The interior lining is a Tatra profile, the outer shell sits on 12 mm OSB board. Roofing is supplied as asphalt shingle, torch-on bitumen or sheet metal; doors and glazing are toughened glass 6 and 8 mm thick. Benches are single-tier or two-tier depending on the model.

Price and purchase

Prices including VAT start at €3,329 for a two-person sauna and reach €36,321 for the largest set with an entrance hall and terrace. Saunas are sold directly from this category: confirm the configuration in the configurator or through an enquiry, then a deposit follows and delivery in 4 to 12 weeks. The price includes insulation, delivery to the place of destination in Slovakia, Czechia and Hungary, a 2-year warranty and our 4-year service. On models that arrive as a finished unit, installation and commissioning are included as well; the small models delivered flat-packed can be assembled by our team for a 390 € surcharge.

What exactly makes up the price is covered in the article on the price of an outdoor sauna. Heating costs for your model and your energy prices are calculated by the running-costs calculator, and winter use is covered by the guide to a sauna in winter.

Configure your sauna

Type, size, timber, stove, glazing and benches come together in the configurator and you see the price at once. If you are also considering the water side, the comparison of a sauna and a hot tub says which is worth buying first; hot tubs are in the hot tubs category.

Health and physiological benefits of a Finnish sauna

What happens in the body during a sauna session and after it. Every figure on the cards comes from a published study — the source list is below the cards.

Circulation and cardiac load

Heat dilates the peripheral vessels and the body redirects blood to the skin: instead of 5 to 10 %, it takes 50 to 70 % of the flow. Cardiac output rises by 60 to 70 %, almost entirely through a faster pulse — 120 to 150 beats per minute.

Cardiac output+60 – 70 %

Muscles and range of motion

After hard training the effect shows up mainly in mobility: in a controlled trial the sauna group had 15 to 26 degrees more passive range of motion on day two than the control group. Faster lactate clearance is not confirmed by the studies.

Range of motion on day 2+15 – 26°

Sweating and skin

Two rounds at 90 °C draw 0.3 to 0.5 kg of sweat — which is why you drink before and after. Regular sauna use is associated with a more stable skin barrier, higher stratum corneum hydration and faster recovery of skin pH.

Sweat per session0.3 – 0.5 kg

Heat adaptation and immunity

Induced hyperthermia triggers the synthesis of heat shock proteins: serum HSP70 rose by 144 % in trained and by 271 % in untrained men after a first sauna bath. White blood cell counts rose by 7 to 14 % in a further study.

Serum HSP70+144 – 271 %

Falling asleep and sleep

The best documented effect of heat on sleep is the drop in core temperature after cooling — it shortens sleep onset if you leave one to two hours between the sauna and bed. Deeper sleep stages have never been measured after a Finnish sauna; 83.5 % of sauna users in a global survey do report better sleep.

Timing before bed1 – 2 h

Autonomic nervous system

During cool-down, heart rate variability shifts towards parasympathetic dominance: the low-frequency band falls and the high-frequency band rises. Resting pulse at the end of recovery was 68 beats per minute against 77 before the sauna.

Resting pulse77 → 68/min

The figures are group averages from the protocols of the studies listed (most often 30 minutes at 73 °C or 15 minutes at 90 – 96 °C), not a promise for an individual. Sauna bathing is not a treatment. With unstable heart disease, an acute infection, during pregnancy or after alcohol, talk to your doctor first.

How to choose a Finnish sauna: a technical guide

Six areas that decide how the sauna will be used and what its running costs will be.

Design principle

The solid timber of a sauna is not just cladding. It forms a heat-accumulating mass that evens out humidity peaks without condensation in the core of the wall.

The shape of the structure decides everything else — how much space the sauna takes, how fast it heats up and what fits into it besides the cabin. We carry six types.

Six types and how they differ

The difference is not only visual. A cylindrical shape holds the least air per bather, so it heats up soonest.

TypeWhat defines itCapacityPrice from

Prices include VAT and are for the base version. The smallest model has a 200×244 cm footprint, the largest 300×700 cm.
How many people fit in

Capacity is not only about the footprint, but also about the number and layout of the benches.

  • 4 people: Cabin without an entrance hall, footprint from 200×244 cm. The most common choice for a couple who want room to spare.
  • 6 people: The middle of the range. With two-tier benches you can lie down.
  • 8 people: The largest sets with an entrance hall or terrace. Expect a longer warm-up and higher consumption.
  • Fewer than 4: The four-person model is the smallest standard. We handle a smaller cabin as a bespoke set on request.
Entrance hall, terrace or shower zone

What surrounds the cabin decides whether the sauna stays usable in frost.

No entrance hallSmallest footprint and lowest price. You undress outside the sauna.
Entrance hallSomewhere to leave your things and a thermal buffer between the cabin and the frost.
Covered terraceRoom to cool down and pause between rounds without going into the house.
Shower zoneA shower in one unit with the cabin — on modular saunas.
